After the success of Kanaa, looks like the Tamil cinema is exploring the hot genre Sports. With a lot of movies like Chennai 28, Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu proving a winner, the directors are willing to make more such movies.
Here are a few upcoming sports-genre movies to watch out for:
1. Thalapathy 63:
The biggest of all, the thalapathy 63 is the one that is making news right from the announcement. The director Atlee will team up with Vijay after two blockbusters, Mersal and Theri. The untitled movie stars Vijay and Nayanthara as the lead.
Actor Vijay reportedly plays a coach and the movie also stars Kathir, Vivek, Daniel Balaji, and Anandaraj in pivotal characters.
2. Jada
Actor Kathir who is enjoying the roaring success of ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ will also be seen in a sports flick based on Football in his next movie.
3. Kennedy Club:
Kennedy Club with Sasikumar and Bharathiraja. The film is touted to be a sports-based entertainer on women’s Kabaddi. Kennedy Club also has Samuthirakani, Soori, Munishkanth, Meenakshi, Gayathri, Neethu, Sowmya, Smrithi, and Soundarya in important roles.
4. Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu 2
Penned by Suseenthiran who made the first part of Vennilla Kabaddi Kuzhu, the sequel of the film is being currently made with Vikranth and Arthana Binu. The film also has Pasupathy, Kishore and Anupama Kumar in pivotal characters.
5. Gopi Nainar – Jai film
Gopi Nainar is back with a boxing based film after catching our eyes with Aramm. Actor Jai and Aishwarya Rajesh will play the lead role in the movie. The film is said to be set against the backdrop of North Chennai.
