Mumbai Indians completes Quinton de Kock transfer

Royal Challengers Bangalore have traded South African wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock to Mumbai Indians in what has become the IPL’s first trade of 2019.

RCB bought de Kock for INR 2.8 crore (USD 437,000) in the last season and Mumbai Indians paid the same amount for the South African wicket-keeper. In order to compensate the amount, the franchise has released Mushtafisur Rahman and Akila Dananjaya.

Quinton de Kock earlier played for Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad. For Mumbai Indians, he might play as specialist batsman along with Evin Lewis. In 34 matches, he has scored 927 runs at an average of 28.09 and with a strike rate of 130.

The last date for retentions and release is November 15, and the franchises are working on the different permutations and combinations before the auctions. A purse of INR 3 crore will be available to the teams in addition to the remaining balance after last year’s auction.
