Actress Bhanupriya is known for acting in big movies such as Aararo Aariraro and Azhagan. She is accused to harass her domestic help who is a 14-year-old minor, physically and mentally.
The minor’s mother gave a complaint to Samarlakota police in East Godavari district against Bhanupriya and her family. Especially, on Bhanupriya’s brother. It is also said that the minor’s family was not allowed to meet her. The minor was assigned by an agent to work in the actress’s house, stated by her mother. The salary was Rs. 10,000.
But now for the twist, Bhanupriya told that the minor was working in her house for many years and she never knew her true age. She stole many expensive items from the home, such as iPad, camera and jewellery.
All the accuses by Bhanupriya was true and both mother and daughter accepted the crimes and returned the belongings to the family. Speaking to The New Indian Express, Bhanupriya said, “Our domestic help has been working with us for over a year. She has stolen an iPad, jewellery, cash and a camera and given them to her mother. She and her mother have confessed to the crime and returned the camera and iPad, and Padma left to her village on the pretext of getting cash and jewellery.”
Letting a minor below 14-years old is a crime. And should be punished for committing such crimes.
“Whoever employs any child or permits any child to work in contravention of the provisions of section 3 shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than six months but which may extend to two years, or with fine which shall not be less than twenty thousand rupees but which may extend to fifty thousand rupees, or with both: Provided that the parents or guardians of such children shall not be punished unless they permit such child for commercial purposes in contravention of the provisions of section 3.”
